MURFC have organised several matches in preparation for Season 2012. Game 1 is against Powerhouse (4 Mar 12), Game 2 is the VRU 10s (17 Mar 12) at Cerberus, Game 3 is against Boroondara at Eltham (24 Mar 12), and Game 4 at Mount Gambier against Adelaide University.
All players should be paying subs over the next few weeks to help out the Club with payments for the buses to Mount Gambier. Further details to follow soon…..
Pre-season continues at the Clubhouse on Tuesdays & Thursday from 6pm.
Player Registrations will be taking place before, during & after training.

2012 Membership fees are $280 for players, $160 for Full-time students and concession players and $100 for supporter (non-playing) members.
This gives all players access to a physio at training sessions, medical/physio support during the games and substantial club merchandise.
The fees also cover ARU registration, medical insurance, washing of kit and subsidised meals in the Clubhouse during the season after training.
All players will receive a club polo shirt when Membership fees are FULLY paid.
MURFC will be initiating a “no pay, no play” policy in 2012, with all players expected to have paid all or part of their subs by no later than Round 1.
This will be heavily monitored by all coaches and managers in Season 2012.
Your Membership is the backbone of the Club.
Pre-season training will commence on 17 Jan 12. Location is the Clubhouse at 6pm. Skills training will then be conducted each Tuesday and Thursday nights.
Strength and conditioning sessions are being conducted prior to this date and throughout preseason at the Results Based Training Melbourne in South Melbourne on Wednesdays at 7pm and Saturdays at 11am. See below for full details
Elite school level rugby union players will be able to pursue their academic and sporting dreams with the assistance of a new University of Melbourne-Victorian Schools’ Rugby Union scholarship.
The University of Melbourne Young Achiever Award will be awarded from 2012 to one of the three best players in the Victorian Schools’ Rugby Union (VSRU) competition, as decided by the VSRU and the University.
The education scholarship worth up to $5000 will be jointly funded by the University of Melbourne and the Melbourne University Rugby Football Club (MURFC) and is part of a broader ‘Education Partner’ agreement between the University and the new Super Rugby team the Melbourne Rebels.

The 2011 Victorian Rugby Union Premier competition commences this Saturday 2 April. The Colts competition starts on Saturday 30 April.
Melbourne University RFC is scheduled to play at home in three senior grades against Moorabbin.

MURFC player subs for 2011 will be $280 for seniors and $160 for Colts. What you get for your money is equipment valued at over $100 including a set of socks and club shorts in addition to a winter training smock.
Registered players are also able to access the Club physio during the week at the ClubHouse and have reduced cost meals in the ClubHouse after training on Thursdays.
Registration fees also pay for all medical support during games including registration with the ARU and any strapping you require.
You can pay your subs using this website or through the Committee during pre-season training. A plan for payment must have been commenced by Round 1 this year or you will affect your ability to be selected to play.
All grades are now training TUESDAY and THURSDAY nights at Princes Park again. This is an interim measure unitl we get back on Brens Oval with lights which is expected to occur within weeks. Get down early as light is begining to fade fast!!

VRU 7′s Tournamanet played at AMMI park as a curtain raiser to the REBELS V CRUSADERS
Players enjoyed the opportunity to represent the club in the inaugural VRU 7’s tournament & to be able to play on the new stadium surface.
The side progressed to the Semi-final stage where we lost 10-7 to Southern Districts. A good positive start to the season.

At the last Weary Dunlop luncheon for 2010 it was announced that MURFC will be aligned with Rebels Julian Huxley and Luke Jones.
Julian is a former Wallaby who has played for the Queensland Reds and the ACT Brumbies as a centre or fullback, while Luke is a former Australian Schoolboy.
MURFC is pleased to welcome both players to the MURFC family and looks forward to a long involvement with our Super 15 team.
