Community Rugby in Victoria goes free-to-air

The Victorian Rugby Union are excited to announce the launch of “Rugby Time”, a weekly one hour TV show, highlighting the best of Community Rugby in Victoria.

The show, which will temporarily air Fridays at 8.30pm on Channel 31, will cover the match of the round each week, along with highlights from the other three matches in the VRU Premier 1 division.

“Rugby Time” will air on Fridays until the end of May, and will then begin in its permanent timeslot of Wednesdays at 8.30pm for the remainder of the 2013 season.

Additionally, the VRU will carry live streaming of the match of the day through their website, www.vicrugby.com.au.

Below is a list of the games which will feature in the first eight episodes of “Rugby Time”. The rest of the schedule will be announced in June.

We will play 6 aside as the fields are slightly smaller than regulation.

In 2013 Melbourne University is bringing TAG rugby to Melbourne in the month of March

MURFC is introducing a program of men’s tag rugby competition running over Wednesday evenings in the month of March and located in Princes Park, Carlton.

This will be an organised and refereed competition based on modified Oztag rules. More info here:

Training has resumed at our grounds from 6pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays.
NO BOOTS! Runners only.
Player registration & subs collection takes place before & after training.
All players that pay their fees in FULL or start on a payment plan will receive a MEMBERSHIP card that will allow them to get their complimentary polo & jacket (in April), reduced cost merchandise at the club & discounted food & drinks @ The Imperial Hotel.

Rugby’s third tier in the pipeline, based on nine universities

AUSTRALIAN rugby’s long-awaited third-tier competition may be in the pipeline, with the Rugby Union Players Association actively promoting a national under-23 competition based around nine major universities.

Club BBQ 06th December

Boys,

the club is planning an end of year/Chistmas BBQ on Thursday the 6th up at the Uni next to the hockey training field (like last year) . The food and drinks are on the club so make sure you get there – and bring your runners to work up an appetite with a bit of a run-around/touch before hand.

This is also a chance to meet the new coaches and a few of our Rebels who will be playing for us next year plus here a bit about plans for the year ahead. Starts at 6:30pm. Put it in your diary!
